Ed Vere
Ed Vere (born February 7, 1973) is a British writer and illustrator of children's books. He won the Highland Children's Book Award in 2007 for his book, ''The Getaway''〔http://www.highland.gov.uk/news/article/1413/highland_children_s_book_awards〕 and was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal for children's book illustration, recognizing his 2008 picture book ''Banana''.〔http://www.carnegiegreenaway.org.uk/pressdesk/press.php?release=pres_2008_short_green_an.html〕 His third book, ''Mr. Big'' was chosen by Booktrust as the official Booktime book for 2009 and was subsequently distributed to 750,000 British schoolchildren making it the largest single print run of a picture book in the UK.〔http://www.theguardian.com/books/2009/sep/23/ed-vere-gorilla-picture-book〕 In 2009, his fourth book, ''Chick'' won the Booktrust Early Years Award for Best Baby Book.〔http://www.booktrust.org.uk/prizes/8/2009〕 His book ''Bedtime for Monsters'' was shortlisted for the 2011 Roald Dahl Funny Prize.〔http://www.booktrust.org.uk/prizes/4/2011〕 ==Life and Work== Ed Vere studied fine art at Camberwell College of Art and started writing and illustrating children's books in 1999.
